[This post from Hagakure comes from a rather unique location. Unique in that it's not coming from his room, but rather a hotel room.

Hagakure himself looks to be in high spirits though, and...rather warm too, as he has a little Fennekin shoved into his winter sweater during the recording. He also has a crystal ball in his lap, so those familiar with his antics may just have an inkling as to what he's going to be talking about.]

Heeeey you guys! I normally do this right on the First, but I was caught up with some stuff this time around. Still, better late than never! And a day or two isn't gonna ruin anything.

[He picks up the crystal ball and holds it up to the 'Gear.]

I'm talking about New Year's fortunes! If you wanna know how your year might go—what Pokemon you'll catch, if you'll make a lot of money, if you'll find that special someone, and all that good stuff—then I'm your go-to guy for that! I mean, they didn't call me the Super High-school Level Fortune Teller for nothin'!

[In other words, he likes to think he's a Big Deal.]

So with that said, drop me a line if you want your fortune! It'll come with a small fee of P5000, but I can guarantee it'll be pretty dang accurate!

[Now that his little personal ad is done with, he sets the crystal ball down and pats his Fennekin on the head.]

Oh! And I got a quick question before I go- anyone got any good spots to check out in Saffron? I've been here before but mostly just to check out the gym. Is that Silph Co. worth checking out? Gimme some pointers!

I usually don't tend to put much stock in fate or anything like it, but you seem pretty convinced there's some merit to it. Who knows if you can convince me of the same, but you can tell me what you think my future holds.

[He can't help but wonder if you can come even close to someone else he knows who can peer into the future, but he doubts it.]

As for Saffron, I'm going to be heading that way soon myself. To be honest, my only draw has been to visit the gym as well.

But seriously though Tensai-chi, I'd be more than happy to clear your skepticism. Do you think you can do a video chat? It's kind of hard to do fortunes over text. I'm not a fortune cookie, dispensing fortunes like that!

Oooor if you're coming to Saffron soon, we could always do it in person. That's the best way in my opinion. I think I might be here a couple more days? But yeah the gym is by FAR the best part. Sabrina's the real deal, I'm telling you. She's got divination too! Aaaand she's really helpful with giving tips on how to raise Psychic types.

I'm not entirely sure how much longer I'll be in Cerulean. I've been preparing for a gym battle, but the teams I am challenging are a bit more...difficult than usual, so it's taking more time to pass through each town than anticipated.

But if I don't make it to Saffron in time...I suppose a video chat will do.

Sabrina I am looking forward to encountering, though, particularly in battle.

Wait really? Did the gym leaders change up their teams or something? I thought Cereulean was supposed to be pretty easy.

Cool though! My friend's getting ready to take on Sabrina so that's why I'm thinking a couple days more. But I'm probably just going back to Goldenrod after, so you could always visit me there in the worst case scenario.

I haven't battled her myself yet since battling not really a huge thing for me, but I've seen her in action. You're in for a real treat man, let me tell you. She's crazy good and pretty flashy too.

When you've acquired all of the badges in Johto, the teams the leaders face you with are marginally stronger.

I'm glad to hear it. It would be a bit disappointing for me to have come all this way for her to be a let down, particularly when I hold psychic types in such esteem. I expect someone who trains them exclusively to at least know their way around with them a bit better than I would.

Nah man she'll totally give you a run for your money. You should try talking to her about Psychic types after the battle too. I think she likes talking to people who train the same type she does. Maybe that's why she at least tolerates me haha.

Neither had I, but...now I know, I suppose. But yes, I have. I probably shouldn't have expected for the Kanto badges to be so easy, though. My team is strong enough that it wouldn't have been much of a challenge normally.

I'll certainly consider it, assuming the battle doesn't end up going too poorly for either one of us.

I guess that's true. It'd be pretty awkward to go fight Normal Mode Brock with level 100 Pokemon. Nooot much of a fair fight there. I bet you still kicked his butt real good though. ;)

You're a respectful guy, right? Just respect her and you shouldn't have a problem! She can be intimidating and all, but I think she mostly just gets mad at people who don't take her seriously. And can you blame her? I get mad in those moments too!

It was an interesting battle, that much was certain.

Anyone who doesn't take any gym leader seriously is setting themselves up for failure somewhere down the road. It's one thing to be confident, and another to entirely underestimate your opponent.

Do you record your battles ever? It'd be kinda cool to see you doing a gym battle! Heck, maybe I'll get to see you battle Sabrina if I'm still in town!

[Of course, he's battled alongside Tensai before, but he's kinda curious to see how he handles his Psychic types in a gym battle.]

Thank you! Definitely agreed. But it's the psychic powers thing too that a lot of people dismiss. They say it's BS. Believe me, I've met plenty of BS psychics and she's not that.

On occasion. Not recently, but this one may be worth keeping a record of.

Is that so? And what does a BS psychic look like?

BS psychics are ones who do brainwashing and hypnotizing and stuff. You know, the ones who mostly just try to mess with people's heads. I don't think they have the right to call that kinda stuff psychic ability.

I see. And you don't believe Sabrina to be capable of anything like that, I'm assuming?

Not...necessarily? I think she's more than got the ability to do it. I just haven't seen her use it to play dirty during a battle. Take the last battle I saw. She didn't directly or use her Pokemon to get into my friend's head in the middle of the battle just to f with her so she'd mess up, do you get what I'm saying?

It's bad stuff like that that I can't stand. There's way better things to use abilities like that for.

No, I understand what you mean. For all intents and purposes, I'm sure that would be considered far beyond cheating for a gym leader to attempt either way.

[Not that he'd assume her to be above that, buuut-]

Plus, if she needed to influence her opponent's actions to win, it wouldn't be a very good reflection of her skill as a trainer.

Yeah, exactly! On all counts!

She says she foresees a lot of her battles, but that's the extent of it I think. Part of having ability like this, even with fortune-telling to an extent, is being able to influence people, but like you said, it looks kinda bad when you do it to win a Pokemon battle.

I suppose the issue there is the fact that if she was influencing a battle's outcome in that way, it would be difficult for anyone to catch her doing it. Not unless they had a Pokemon specifically trained to be able to pick up on that sort of thing, anyway.

That's a good point... You'd have to have a Psychic type with you to know for sure.

Well I guess I can't really say a whole lot more aside from you'll just have to see her battle style for yourself? I've said pretty much all I can, but that only goes so far of course.
